Responsibilities
- Shelving and Organizing: Maintain the library's collection by shelving books, periodicals, and media in the correct order and location.
- Patron Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions, helping patrons locate materials, and guiding them through library resources.
- Check-in/Check-out: Process library materials using the automated circulation system (Koha) efficiently and accurately.
- Collection Maintenance: Monitor the collection for damaged items, missing volumes, and ensure proper inventory control.
- Program Support: Assist with the setup and execution of children's programs, story times, and adult workshops.
- Administrative Duties: Assist with data entry, filing, and general library upkeep to ensure a welcoming atmosphere.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in a customer service or library setting is preferred but not mandatory.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with computer systems and basic software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with people of all ages.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to perform repetitive tasks accurately and maintain a neat, organized workspace.
- Availability: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including weekends and occasional evenings.
