Responsibilities
- Shelving and Organization: Sort, shelve, and organize library materials including books, DVDs, and periodicals to ensure easy access for patrons.
- Customer Service: Assist patrons in finding materials, answering general inquiries, and providing a friendly, helpful atmosphere at the front desk.
- Check-in/Check-out: Process library materials using the circulation system, manage holds, and assist with renewals.
- Program Support: Help set up and maintain materials for library programs, events, and community workshops.
- Inventory Management: Assist with basic inventory counts and the maintenance of library collections.
- Public Spaces: Keep public areas clean, tidy, and welcoming for visitors of all ages.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: No prior work experience is required. A willingness to learn is essential.
- Communication: Strong verbal communication skills and the ability to interact positively with people of all backgrounds and ages.
- Organization: Good attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
- Computer Skills: Basic computer literacy; familiarity with Microsoft Office or similar software is a plus but not mandatory.
- Physical Stamina: Ability to stand, walk, and lift up to 25 lbs for extended periods as needed.
