Responsibilities
- Patron Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service at the circulation desk, assisting patrons with check-outs, check-ins, and account inquiries.
- Collection Management: Shelve library materials accurately, organize returned items, and assist in the re-shelving process to maintain a tidy and accessible library.
- Research Support: Help patrons navigate our digital databases and physical resources to find information for school, work, or personal interest.
- Program Support: Assist in the setup and execution of library programs, including children's story hours and adult workshops.
- Administrative Tasks: Process inter-library loans, answer phones, and manage correspondence professionally.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Library Science or related field is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service or a library setting is highly preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with computers, library management systems (e.g., SirsiDynix), and Microsoft Office Suite.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with people of all ages.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and bend/reach to shelve books.
