Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service at circulation desks, assisting patrons with checkouts, returns, and account inquiries
- Organize and maintain library materials using Dewey Decimal System and cataloging protocols
- Process new acquisitions through receiving, labeling, and shelving operations
- Support digital literacy initiatives by assisting patrons with public computers, printing, and online resources
- Facilitate program coordination for children, teens, and adult education events
- Manage interlibrary loan requests and material inventory systems
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; library science coursework or certification preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience in customer service or library operations
- Proficiency with integrated library systems (ILS) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in cataloging and shelving
- Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and navigate multi-level shelving systems
- Excellent communication skills with diverse community populations
- Basic knowledge of library classification systems and digital resources
