Responsibilities
- Process library materials including check-ins, check-outs, and renewals using integrated library systems
- Shelve books, periodicals, and multimedia materials in proper Dewey Decimal order
- Assist patrons with locating resources, answering reference inquiries, and navigating digital catalogs
- Maintain clean, organized library spaces and ensure proper arrangement of reading areas
- Operate library equipment including self-checkout stations, copiers, and scanners
- Support program coordination for community events and educational workshops
- Perform inventory management and assist with processing new acquisitions
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; library science coursework preferred
- Minimum 6 months customer service or clerical experience
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail in alphabetization and numerical ordering
- Basic computer literacy and ability to learn library-specific software quickly
- Excellent communication skills with ability to assist diverse patron populations
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
- Flexibility to work weekends and evenings as needed for library hours
