Responsibilities
- Assist patrons with locating materials, navigating digital resources, and answering reference inquiries
- Manage circulation desk operations including check-ins/check-outs, renewals, and overdue processing
- Shelve and organize library materials according to Dewey Decimal classification
- Support library programming events including children's storytimes, workshops, and community outreach
- Maintain clean, organized library spaces and ensure patron safety standards
- Process new acquisitions and assist with cataloging and inventory management
- Train patrons on library technology including public computers, e-books, and research databases
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree in Library Technology or related field preferred
- Minimum 1 year library or customer service experience with proven public interaction skills
- Proficiency with integrated library systems (ILS) and Microsoft Office Suite
- Excellent organizational abilities with attention to detail and accuracy
- Strong communication skills with ability to serve diverse patron populations
- Basic knowledge of library classification systems and cataloging principles
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 pounds
