Responsibilities
- Collection Management: Sort, shelve, and organize library materials, including books, periodicals, and media, ensuring they are in proper order and easily accessible to patrons.
- Circulation Services: Check materials in and out, process fines and fees, and manage library card accounts with accuracy and efficiency.
- Patron Assistance: Provide friendly and informative assistance to library visitors, answering questions about library resources, services, and policies.
- Program Support: Assist in the setup and execution of library programs, events, and workshops for children and adults.
- Technology Support: Help patrons troubleshoot basic issues with library computers, printers, and Wi-Fi access points.
- Inventory Control: Assist in the preparation of weekly and monthly inventory reports to ensure accurate stock levels.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Library Science or related field preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a customer service role or a library setting is highly desirable.
- Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer literacy are essential.
- Interpersonal: Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact positively with people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills and the ability to focus on detail-oriented tasks for extended periods.
- Reliability: Must be punctual and dependable, with a flexible schedule to include evenings and weekends as needed.
