Responsibilities
- Execute espresso extraction and specialty brewing techniques with precision and consistency
- Develop and train barista staff on beverage recipes, customer service standards, and equipment operation
- Manage inventory, ordering, and quality control of coffee beans and ingredients
- Create innovative seasonal menus and promotional offerings
- Lead daily opening/closing procedures and maintain pristine workspace hygiene
- Foster community engagement through coffee education and event participation
- Ensure compliance with all health, safety, and sanitation regulations
Qualifications
- 3+ years of professional barista experience with specialty coffee certification (SCA preferred)
- Expert knowledge of coffee origins, roasting profiles, and brewing methodologies
- Proven leadership experience in service environments
- Exceptional customer service skills with ability to handle high-volume rushes
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality standards
- Ability to work flexible shifts including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- Basic POS system proficiency and cash handling experience
- Local Durham residency strongly preferred
