Responsibilities
- Shelving & Organization: Accurately shelve and organize library materials, including books, periodicals, and media, using the Dewey Decimal System.
- Patron Assistance: Provide friendly and efficient customer service to library visitors, assisting with locating items, using computers, and navigating the online catalog.
- Check-in/Check-out: Process library materials using our automated circulation system, handle fines, and manage holds.
- Material Processing: Assist with the preparation and labeling of new arrivals, including stamping, covering, and inventory checks.
- Program Support: Help set up and manage events and programs for children, teens, and adults, ensuring a welcoming atmosphere.
- Facility Maintenance: Maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the public areas and service desks.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service, retail, or a library setting is preferred.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills are essential.
- Technical Proficiency: Basic computer literacy and comfort with using library management software.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse population.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderately heavy boxes of books (up to 30 lbs).
