Responsibilities
- Patron Assistance: Greet and assist library visitors with finding books, accessing digital resources, and utilizing library computers.
- Collection Management: Sort, shelf-read, and organize returned materials to ensure the library collection is accessible and orderly.
- Program Support: Help set up and facilitate community programs, storytime sessions, and computer literacy workshops.
- Administrative Duties: Answer phone inquiries, assist with check-in/check-out processes, and maintain accurate records of library materials.
- Facility Maintenance: Keep public areas clean, tidy, and welcoming for all community members.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; some college coursework in Library Science or Information Management is a plus.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer proficiency and the ability to learn new software and library management systems quickly.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to accurately organize and catalog items while maintaining a high standard of service.
- Reliability: Must be punctual, dependable, and able to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.
