Responsibilities
- Shelve & Organize: Maintain the library's collection by shelving books, periodicals, and media in an organized and accessible manner.
- Patron Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service by answering questions, helping with computer usage, and assisting patrons in finding materials.
- Check-in/Check-out: Process library materials using the circulation system, manage fines, and assist with check-out procedures.
- Inventory Management: Conduct regular shelf-reading and inventory audits to ensure accurate record-keeping.
- Program Support: Assist in setting up for community events, story hours, and educational workshops.
- General Maintenance: Keep library spaces clean, tidy, and welcoming for all visitors.
Qualifications
- Education: High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's degree preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a library, retail, or customer service setting is a plus but not mandatory.
- Skills: Basic computer proficiency and comfort with library management software.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to interact positively with diverse community members.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods, lift boxes up to 25 lbs, and reach shelves.
- Availability: Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
