Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Assist patrons with finding materials, utilizing library catalogs, and resolving inquiries with a friendly and professional demeanor.
- Collection Management: Sort, shelf, and organize books, periodicals, and media according to the Dewey Decimal System or Library of Congress classification.
- Program Support: Help set up and facilitate children's story hours, adult workshops, and community events.
- Technology Assistance: Guide users in using computers, printers, Wi-Fi, and digital databases.
- Inventory Control: Assist in the annual inventory process and monitor for missing or damaged materials.
- Administrative Tasks: Process inter-library loans, manage holds, and update patron records accurately.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or coursework in Library Science is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience in a customer service role or library setting is preferred.
- Skills: Strong attention to detail and excellent organizational skills.
- Communication: Ability to communicate effectively with diverse populations of all ages.
- Technical: Basic computer literacy and comfort with database software.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods while shelving materials.
