Responsibilities
- Patron Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service at the circulation desk, helping patrons check out materials, renew loans, and answer general inquiries.
- Collection Management: Assist in the shelving, sorting, and organizing of library materials to ensure easy accessibility for all visitors.
- Program Support: Help set up and maintain the environment for library programs, events, and story times.
- Reference Services: Direct patrons to digital resources, databases, and physical collections to help them find the information they need.
- Facility Maintenance: Maintain a clean, welcoming, and safe environment for staff and visitors by performing light cleaning duties as needed.
- Technology Support: Troubleshoot basic issues with library computers, printers, and public access terminals.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in a customer service or library setting is preferred but not mandatory.
- Computer Skills: Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and basic computer navigation.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a focus on public interaction.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs, stand for extended periods, and navigate library stacks.
- Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently.
