Responsibilities
- Collection Management: Efficiently process, shelve, and organize new and returned library materials, including books, DVDs, and digital assets, ensuring accurate classification.
- Patron Support: Provide exceptional customer service by assisting patrons with research, computer access, and locating specific resources within the library.
- Program Coordination: Assist in the setup and execution of community programs, workshops, and story times for children and adults.
- Inventory Control: Conduct regular inventory checks and help maintain the library's collection health by identifying and weeding outdated materials.
- Reference Desk Assistance: Answer general inquiries via phone, email, or in-person, directing patrons to appropriate databases and services.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Library Science or related field is preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service or a library setting is a plus, but we provide comprehensive training for motivated candidates.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer literacy with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience using library management systems is highly desirable.
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with a diverse population.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 25 lbs and stand for extended periods as required by the role.
