Responsibilities
- Shelving and Inventory Management: Organize, shelf-read, and maintain library collections to ensure materials are easily accessible to patrons.
- Patron Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service by assisting visitors with locating resources, using library equipment, and navigating our digital catalog.
- Equipment Support: Assist patrons in the use of library-provided equipment, including self-checkout kiosks, scanners, and microfilm readers.
- Program Support: Help set up and manage materials for library programs, events, and workshops.
- Data Entry: Maintain accurate records of circulation data, lost items, and patron requests using library management systems.
- Facility Maintenance: Assist in the upkeep of public areas to ensure a welcoming and safe environment.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree in Library Science or related field preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a library, retail, or customer service setting is a plus but not mandatory.
- Technical Skills: Basic proficiency with computers, tablets, and mobile devices; ability to learn new software quickly.
- Attention to Detail: Strong organizational skills with the ability to sort and categorize items accurately.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a friendly and approachable demeanor.
- Reliability: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends as required.
