In this pivotal role, you will help maintain our extensive collection and provide essential support to patrons of all ages. The library provides all necessary equipment, allowing you to focus on creating a welcoming environment for every visitor.
Responsibilities
- Circulation Management: Process library check-ins and check-outs, manage holds, and accurately process payments for fines and fees.
- Patron Assistance: Guide patrons in locating materials, utilizing library databases, and operating computers and printing equipment.
- Collection Maintenance: Shelve returned materials in Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress order and repair damaged books.
- Customer Service: Address patron inquiries courteously and efficiently, resolving issues to ensure a positive library experience.
- Program Support: Assist with the setup and logistics for library events, workshops, and story times.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent required.
- Experience: Previous experience in a customer service role or library setting is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Basic computer literacy and familiarity with MS Office or library management software.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to lift and carry boxes of books weighing up to 25 pounds and stand for extended periods.
- Soft Skills: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.
