Responsibilities
- Manage daily circulation operations including check-in/check-out processes, renewals, and overdue management
- Provide exceptional reference services to patrons using digital and physical resources
- Organize and maintain library collections through accurate shelving and inventory control
- Assist patrons with technology troubleshooting, computer access, and digital resource navigation
- Develop and implement engaging community programs for diverse age groups
- Collaborate with team members on collection development and promotional initiatives
- Maintain accurate records of library transactions and patron interactions
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; Library Science coursework preferred
- Minimum 1 year customer service experience in library or similar setting
- Proficiency with integrated library systems (ILS) and digital cataloging tools
- Strong knowledge of library classification systems and research methodologies
- Excellent communication skills with ability to serve diverse populations
- Ability to lift 25 lbs and perform repetitive physical tasks (shelving, pushing carts)
- Basic computer troubleshooting skills and familiarity with office software
- Valid New York State driver's license (for outreach program duties)
