Responsibilities
- Provide exceptional customer service to patrons of all ages, assisting with book circulation, reference inquiries, and digital resource navigation
- Manage library cataloging systems, ensuring accurate classification and organization of physical and digital collections
- Develop and facilitate engaging community programs including literacy workshops, cultural events, and educational seminars
- Maintain library facilities, ensuring clean, safe, and accessible environments for all visitors
- Implement outreach initiatives to underserved communities, promoting library services and resources
- Collaborate with library staff on collection development, recommending acquisitions based on community needs and trends
- Assist with technology support, helping patrons access computers, printers, and online databases
Qualifications
- Associate's degree in Library Science, Information Technology, or related field (or equivalent experience)
- Minimum 2 years of library or customer service experience with demonstrated knowledge of library systems
- Proficiency in cataloging software (e.g., MARC records) and digital resource management
- Exceptional interpersonal skills with ability to serve diverse populations with empathy and cultural sensitivity
- Strong organizational abilities with attention to detail in inventory management and record-keeping
- Experience developing and executing community programs and outreach initiatives
- Basic knowledge of library classification systems (Dewey Decimal or Library of Congress)
- Valid Florida driver's license (for outreach duties) and ability to work flexible hours including weekends
