In this role, you will assist in the daily operations of the library, ensuring a welcoming and efficient environment for all patrons. We are looking for individuals who are tech-savvy, organized, and eager to serve the diverse needs of our community.
Responsibilities
- Assist patrons with locating books, journals, and digital resources using library catalogs and databases.
- Shelve returned materials and organize library collections in an accurate and efficient manner.
- Operate circulation desk software, including checking out materials, processing fines, and managing holds.
- Provide exceptional customer service and technical support to visitors of all ages.
- Process and catalog new acquisitions, ensuring proper labeling and shelving.
- Maintain the cleanliness and organization of public areas and stacks.
- Assist with the setup and maintenance of library programs and events.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree preferred.
- Previous experience in a library, retail, or customer service environment is a plus.
- Proficiency with computers and basic software applications (Microsoft Office Suite).
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
- Excellent verbal communication skills and a friendly demeanor.
- Knowledge of library management systems (e.g., SIRSI, Koha) is an advantage.
