Responsibilities
- Assist patrons with locating materials, answering reference questions, and navigating library resources
- Process and catalog new books, periodicals, and multimedia materials using ILS systems
- Manage circulation desk operations including check-ins, check-outs, and account maintenance
- Conduct outreach programs and literacy workshops for children and adults
- Maintain orderly shelves and ensure proper organization of all collections
- Support digital literacy initiatives by providing tech assistance to patrons
- Assist with inventory management and preservation of library assets
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent; associate's or bachelor's degree preferred
- Minimum 1 year experience in library, customer service, or related field
- Proficiency with library management systems (e.g., Sierra, Evergreen)
- Strong organizational skills with attention to detail
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Basic knowledge of Dewey Decimal System and cataloging principles
- Ability to work collaboratively in a diverse team environment
- Valid Massachusetts driver's license (for outreach programs)
