Responsibilities
- Assist patrons with locating library materials, using the catalog, and checking out items via our digital systems.
- Shelve library materials in an organized, accurate, and efficient manner according to the Dewey Decimal System.
- Process new library books, manage interlibrary loan requests, and maintain the circulation desk.
- Provide exceptional customer service by answering inquiries, resolving issues, and welcoming visitors to the library.
- Assist in organizing and setting up for library programs, events, and workshops.
- Monitor library spaces to ensure a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for all visitors.
- Perform light administrative tasks such as data entry, filing, and answering phones.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent required; Associate’s degree or experience in library science is a plus.
- Previous experience in customer service or a library setting is highly preferred.
- Proficiency with computers and standard office software (Microsoft Office) and ability to learn library management systems quickly.
- Strong communication skills and the ability to interact professionally with people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Detail-oriented with excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderately heavy boxes (up to 25 lbs).
