Responsibilities
- Circulation Management: Oversee the circulation desk, including check-in/check-out processes, fines collection, and managing holds and reservations.
- Collection Maintenance: Assist in the shelving, sorting, and organizing of library materials to ensure accurate shelf placement and easy accessibility.
- Patron Assistance: Provide expert guidance to patrons regarding library resources, digital databases, and computer usage.
- Program Support: Help organize and facilitate community events, story hours, and workshops for all age groups.
- Technical Support: Troubleshoot basic IT issues for patrons and assist in the maintenance of library software and hardware.
- Inventory Control: Participate in regular inventory audits and weeding of outdated materials.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or Bachelor’s degree in Library Science preferred.
- Experience: Previous experience in a customer service or library setting is highly desirable.
- Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and library management systems (e.g., SirsiDynix, Koha) is a plus.
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with a diverse population.
- Organization: Strong attention to detail and the ability to manage multiple tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Technical Proficiency: Comfortable using tablets, e-readers, and other digital devices.
