Responsibilities
- Assist patrons with locating books, periodicals, and digital resources using the library catalog and database systems.
- Shelve returned materials and maintain the organization and neatness of the library stacks and reading areas.
- Process new book donations, stamp them, and assist with inventory management and weeding.
- Operate library circulation desk software to accurately check in and check out items, collect fines, and manage holds.
- Answer general inquiries and provide exceptional customer service to diverse library visitors.
- Help with setting up and maintaining the children's reading area and organizing special events.
Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent is required.
- Previous experience in customer service or library settings is preferred but not mandatory.
- Basic computer literacy and the ability to learn new library management software quickly.
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
- Ability to lift up to 20 lbs and stand for extended periods as needed.
- Passion for literature, community service, and maintaining a clean, safe environment.
