Responsibilities
- Operate the point-of-sale (POS) system accurately and efficiently to process customer transactions, including cash, credit, and debit payments.
- Greet customers warmly and professionally as they enter the store, providing excellent customer service to enhance their shopping experience.
- Answer customer inquiries regarding products, prices, and store policies with patience and accuracy.
- Ensure the checkout area is clean, organized, and fully stocked with bags, receipt paper, and promotional materials.
- Handle cash and currency with strict accuracy and accountability, balancing the register at the end of every shift.
- Assist with bagging merchandise and maintaining the overall appearance of the sales floor.
- Collaborate with team members to ensure a smooth and fast-paced checkout process during peak hours.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or GED equivalent is preferred but not required.
- Previous experience as a cashier or in retail sales is a plus.
- Strong math skills and the ability to handle money accurately with minimal errors.
- Excellent communication skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs when necessary.
- Reliable transportation to and from work.
- Availability to work weekends and holidays as required.
