Responsibilities
- Process Transactions: Accurately ring up customer purchases using the Point of Sale (POS) system, including handling cash, credit cards, and gift cards.
- Customer Service: Greet customers warmly, answer inquiries, and provide product recommendations to ensure a positive shopping experience.
- Checkout Efficiency: Maintain a fast and organized checkout lane, minimizing wait times while ensuring accuracy.
- Store Maintenance: Keep the checkout area clean, organized, and fully stocked with supplies such as bags and receipt paper.
- Loss Prevention: Monitor for suspicious activity, adhere to cash handling policies, and assist in minimizing shrinkage.
- Inventory Support: Assist in inventory counts and help organize merchandise as needed.
- Payment Verification: Verify checks and ID cards when required, ensuring compliance with company policies.
Qualifications
- Experience: Previous experience as a cashier or in retail sales is preferred but not required.
- Education: High school diploma or GED equivalent.
- Math Skills: Strong ability to perform basic arithmetic and handle cash transactions with 100% accuracy.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills and a professional, friendly demeanor.
- Reliability: Must be punctual, dependable, and able to work weekends and holidays as required.
- Attention to Detail: Ability to notice discrepancies and follow operational procedures strictly.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift up to 25 lbs occasionally.
