Responsibilities
- Customer Service: Greet patrons warmly and assist with finding materials, using library computers, and navigating our digital catalog.
- Shelving & Organization: Maintain the integrity of the collection by sorting, shelving, and organizing books and media accurately according to the Library of Congress classification.
- Circulation Support: Process check-outs and returns efficiently, manage holds, and assist with fines at the circulation desk.
- Program Assistance: Support library programs for adults, teens, and children, including setup and cleanup.
- Digital Literacy: Teach basic computer skills to seniors and community members to help bridge the digital divide.
- Facility Maintenance: Keep public areas clean, organized, and welcoming for all visitors.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate's degree in Library Science or related field is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience in a customer service or library setting is preferred but not mandatory.
- Skills: Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with diverse populations.
- Technology: Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with library management systems (e.g., Sierra, Koha) is a plus.
- Reliability: Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and weekends.
