Responsibilities
- Shelve and organize library materials, including books, periodicals, and multimedia, using the Dewey Decimal System.
- Assist patrons with locating resources, using library computers, and checking out materials.
- Manage circulation desk operations, including checking items in/out and processing fines.
- Answer phone inquiries and provide general information to the public.
- Maintain the cleanliness and order of library shelves and public areas.
- Assist with the preparation and setup of library programs and community events.
Qualifications
- No prior library or professional experience required. We provide comprehensive on-the-job training.
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED).
- Basic computer literacy and comfort using Microsoft Office or library management software.
- Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to stand for extended periods and lift moderately heavy boxes (up to 25 lbs).
- Valid California driver's license is a plus but not mandatory.
