Responsibilities
- Shelving and Organization: Maintain the integrity of the library's collection by accurately shelving books and periodicals, and organizing materials by the Dewey Decimal System.
- Patron Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service by helping patrons locate books, use library computers, and access digital resources.
- Inventory Management: Assist with the check-in and check-out processes, including scanning materials and processing fines.
- Program Support: Help set up and facilitate library programs, story hours, and community events for all age groups.
- Reference Services: Perform basic research queries and provide guidance on using the library's online databases and catalog.
- Facility Maintenance: Keep public areas clean, organized, and welcoming for all visitors.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s degree or coursework in Library Science is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service or a library setting is preferred.
- Skills: Strong organizational skills with the ability to sort and classify information accurately.
- Communication: Excellent verbal communication skills and the ability to interact effectively with people of all ages and backgrounds.
- Technical Proficiency: Basic computer skills and familiarity with library management software or POS systems.
- Physical Requirements: Ability to stand for extended periods and lift boxes weighing up to 25 pounds.
