Responsibilities
- Shelving and Organization: Maintain the integrity of the library's collection by accurately shelving books and organizing periodicals according to the Dewey Decimal System.
- Patron Assistance: Provide exceptional customer service to library visitors, answering directional inquiries and assisting with computer access and printing needs.
- Check-in/Check-out: Process library materials efficiently using our digital management systems, ensuring all items are accounted for.
- Program Support: Assist in the setup and execution of children's story hours, workshops, and community events.
- Reference Help: Guide patrons in locating resources and using research databases and digital catalogs.
- Collection Maintenance: Monitor collection quality, identify missing items, and assist in weeding outdated materials.
Qualifications
- Education: High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree or coursework in Library Science is a plus.
- Experience: Previous experience in customer service or library work is preferred.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with Microsoft Office and familiarity with library automation software (e.g., SirsiDynix or Voyager).
- Communication: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to interact professionally with diverse populations of all ages.
- Attention to Detail: High level of accuracy in data entry and physical organization tasks.
