Responsibilities
- Expertly prepare espresso drinks, pour-overs, and specialty coffee beverages using premium beans
- Deliver exceptional customer service through personalized recommendations and warm interactions
- Maintain pristine café cleanliness and uphold strict food safety standards
- Manage POS transactions accurately while upselling seasonal specials and loyalty programs
- Train new baristas on brewing techniques and customer engagement protocols
- Collaborate with team during peak hours to ensure seamless operations
- Source and showcase local Detroit artisanal products in café displays
Qualifications
- Minimum 6 months barista experience or equivalent customer service background
- Proficiency in espresso machine operation and milk texturing techniques
- Strong math skills for cash handling and inventory management
- Ability to work flexible shifts including early mornings, weekends, and holidays
- Knowledge of coffee origins, brewing methods, and flavor profiles
- Basic food handling certification or willingness to obtain
- Positive attitude with ability to multitask in high-volume settings
- Local Detroit knowledge preferred for neighborhood engagement
